Building techniques

The climate here, and bear in mind that it is the hot season, is comfortable near the coast. With the right building techniques there should be no need for air conditioning, the constant sea breeze and sensible clothes being sufficient to make life quite comfortable. Of course, concrete, corrugated iron and building styles that interfere with the flow of air have been developed, copied from half-understood Western designs of the desirable. The result is that most of the buildings are hotter, much hotter, than garden outside. Stifling places where air conditioning is almost a must.

I am being budget conscious and managing without such luxuries, sleeping instead so close to the fan that I occasionally catch my hands on it during the night.
