Gloating is a dangerous occupation

The last hour hasn’t been good. This afternoon I was gloating that I had completed and posted my reports on the server. Returning home from Speedcash, I thought I would update the school website, since I can’t do it at school at the moment. To do this, I copied some files across from one folder to another. Something went wrong. They didn’t appear where I expected, so I repeated the operation. The computer asked if I wished to overwrite the files. I clicked yes and then updated the website. Wishing then to update a comment I had made on the reports I opened OmniOutliner only to find an old version of my Class Notes there. It has taken about an hour to work out what happened. By some slip of the mouse, I must have accidently buried the Omni folder inside the Borneo Gallery. I have obviously been updating this copy regularly, without knowing where it is on my hard drive. Now, having just overwritten the files, I have unwittingly turned back the clock to an earlier copy. Thank goodness I had already posted the work on the school server. Unfortunately it does mean that I have lost the last couple of weeks of Omni notes - a resource that was quickly becoming indispensable. Daily backups are probably the only solution, but what a pain.
